SOFTWARE
Here is some computer and calculator software you may find useful.
Linear Regression
Projectile Motion
Computer program PROJECTL.F90 will compute the launch angle needed to hit a target at
coordinates (x,y). The program (written in Fortran-90) uses Newton's method to solve
iteratively for the launch angle.
TI-83+ Applications
RPN III - Reverse Polish Notation
This application converts the TI-83+ to Reverse Polish Notation (RPN).
With a little practice, you'll find that this is much easier and much less error-prone than the TI-83's built-in
algebraic notation. (Download courtesy of ticalc.org.)
Most Hewlett-Packard calculators use RPN, as do the Forth, PostScript, and Mouse computer
programming languages.
For Microsoft Windows, there is an RPN calculator called Excalibur available for download
here.
There is also an RPN calculator program available for cell phones and PDAs called MathU,
available from Creative Creek Software.
