Projectile Motion
Computer program PROJECTL.F90 will compute the launch angle needed to hit a target at coordinates (x,y). The program (written in Fortran-90) uses Newton's method to solve iteratively for the launch angle.- Text version

Reverse Polish Notation Calculators
Reverse Polish Notation (RPN) is an efficient, stack-based method for operating an electronic calculator. Most Hewlett-Packard calculators (e.g. HP-35s and HP-50g) use RPN, as do a few programming languages like Forth. With a little practice, you'll find that RPN is much easier, faster, and less error-prone than the algebraic logic that comes built in to most calculators.Besides buying a Hewlett-Packard calculator, here are some other options if you'd like to try RPN:
- RPN III application for the TI-83+ calculator (from ticalc.org)
- Creative Creek Software sells the MathU RPN calculator for the iPhone, Palm OS, and Windows Mobile devices.
- Thomas Fors LLC sells the mid-range SCI-11C and high-end SCI-15C scientific calculators for the iPhone.
- Lygea Calculators sells the Pocket 10C SE Scientific Calculator for the BlackBerry, and the Pocket 15C SE Scientific Calculator for Windows Mobile devices.
- Free42 calculator is a re-implementation of the HP-42S RPN calculator for the iPhone, Windows, Pocket PC, Palm OS, Mac OS X, and Linux (x86).
- Excalibur calculator for Windows (freeware).
- Calc98 for Windows, Windows CE, GNU/Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris (shareware).
